According to a recent article in the Wall Street Journal, the iPad 2 is finally in production. This is not surprising, given Apple’s typical yearly update cycle of the iPhone and iPod. The iPad 2 is purported to be faster and slimmer, with more memory than the previous version. The iPad has been the dominant tablet on the market, selling 14.8 million units in the nine months since its release, according to Apple. iPad sales made up 17 percent of Apple’s revenue in the last quarter, totaling $4.6 billion, the company recently said in an earnings report. If you are thinking about hiring an iPad developer for your project, now is the time!
Will iPhone 5 incorporate NFC/RFID readers?
The next iPhone will most likely have Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. NFC is a relatively new breakthrough in mobile payment, and reports from Bloomberg claim that Apple will implement NFC into the iPhone 5.
NFC would primarily be used to let the iPhone interface with and make payments for physical products and ads through RFID technology. If you’ve ever used a mobile device to scan a bar code or a QR code, you should have a good grasp of how NFC works.
AppleInsider reports that Apple plans to implement NFC in a new and interesting way,
“White said that his sources have indicated to him that the next iPhone will include NFC technology. However, Apple’s approach will reportedly have “a twist that will make it unique versus his peers.” White did not give any indication as to what the “twist” could be.”

Mobile Marketing Firm Makes Big Move
Tampa, FL (PRWEB) July 31, 2010
Momentum Mobile, a US based mobile application development and design company, has announced today plans to expand into the Florida market. The company, a spin-off of a large nationwide advertising agency, has developed some of the more exciting apps to hit the mobile app marketplace in recent months. Their new headquarters will be located in downtown Tampa Florida, a growing hot spot for software development firms in recent years.
According to Founder & CEO Christopher Young, the expansion will allow Momentum Mobile to increase their capacity, allowing for more focus on the rapid increase in development for the Android operating system as well as growing demands for iPhone application development from a more localized business sector. The Android OS has become very popular with mobile phone users, in part because it is an open source software, allowing for more flexibility than other mobile platforms. US sales of Android devices are quickly catching up to Apple iPhone sales, and a key player in the rapid expansion of the mobile application industry which is expected to reach a $6.2 billion sales mark in 2010. Momentum Mobile is poised for continued growth in 2011, expanding its in house development team to keep up with this increasing demand for mobile app development from a worldwide client base as well as several partnerships with national advertising agencies and Fortune 500 corporations.
The second driving factor to the expansion of Momentum Mobile is the growing demand for mobile applications, particularly the iPhone on a more local level. Industry data indicates 2010 has shown a dramatic shift of client demographics in the mobile application industry to include far more small to medium local businesses and groups. Christopher Young, CEO of Momentum Mobile states “Mobile applications are becoming more feasible, and more appealing to business owners everyday. Today’s customer has become accustomed to having desired services and information available to them where and when they want it, almost to the point of it being expected. Mobile apps are not just for the large corporations anymore, a properly executed mobile campaign is not only affordable but can provide dramatic benefits to any business from a local restaurant or real estate agent to attorney’s and retail locations.”
Momentum Mobile is a complete mobile development firm founded 2008 in Los Angeles California. Momentum Mobile specializes in developing and marketing apps for iPhone, iPad, Android, Blackberry, Palm, Symbian and Windows Mobile operating systems.
MacWorld 2010 – Interview with Momentum
Today, though, app developers bear witness to a new kind of gold rush. “At first, the App Store had everyone and every idea,” says Chris Young, CEO of Momentum Mobile, a mobile app developer employing a dozen app developers, “but the volume of apps has weeded out” the weaker ones.
iPhone Apps That Connect With Customers
And it’s a different kind of gold rush this time around, Young says. Mobile apps, he says, are more business-focused. Companies want to develop mobile apps for internal use or to promote their brands or to better serve customers, not simply to make money from the apps themselves…… http://www.macworld.com/article/146473/2010/02/iphone_apps.html

There seems to be no limit to the creativity and sophistication of iPhone apps, save one: too few good iPhone app developers.
iPhone owners love showing off amazing apps that awe their friends and family. Want to see your house on Google Earth? Shazam will tell you what song is playing on the radio. Need voice-to-voice language translation? Try Jibbigo.
There seems to be no limitation to the creativity and sophistication of apps, save one: too few good iPhone app developers, says Christopher Young, CEO of Momentum Mobile, a 12-person iPhone app development firm……..
